GENERAL INFORMATION

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines visa photos, set by the Ministry of National Security

The Ministry of National Security, Air and Sea Port Development is the sole authority behind the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines entry visa, and it publishes a single, universal photo rule: a 2 by 2 inch colour photograph taken within the last six months. The same square format covers tourist, business, student, and other entry-visa categories, with no separate variants by purpose of travel.

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines does not run a true e-visa portal and does not contract with VFS Global or any other visa application centre. Applications reach the Ministry by email, by post, or through SVG diplomatic missions such as the High Commission in London and the Consulate General in New York. Where no SVG mission exists, British diplomatic posts act as intake points. Two identical prints are expected for any paper, walk-in, or mail submission, and applicants supply the photos themselves in every channel.

Officers at the Ministry and at SVG missions review each photo by hand against the published rule and the standard expectations on pose, background, and eyewear. Photos that fail on subject-side issues are a routine cause of returned packets and delayed decisions, so the safest approach is to meet the Ministry’s wording exactly before the application leaves your hands.

REQUIREMENTS

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines visa photo requirements

The Ministry of National Security expects a recent colour photograph showing a true likeness of the applicant. The rules below cover how the subject must appear in the frame.

Expression & pose

  • Head positionFace the camera square on with the head upright and not tilted or rotated. Both eyes must be open and looking directly at the lens.
  • Neutral expressionHold a neutral expression with the mouth closed. Avoid smiling with visible teeth, frowning, or any exaggerated facial movement.
  • Shoulders visibleSquare the shoulders to the camera so the upper chest is included naturally in the frame.
  • Photo recencyThe photograph must have been taken within the last six months and must reflect the applicant’s current appearance.

Eyewear & lenses

  • Dark and tinted glassesDark or tinted glasses are prohibited by the Ministry of National Security. Sunglasses and transition lenses must be removed before the photograph is taken.
  • Prescription glassesRemoving prescription glasses is strongly recommended. If worn, the eyes must be fully visible with no glare on the lenses and no frames obscuring the pupils.

Headwear

  • General ruleHats and head coverings are not permitted. The head must be uncovered from the chin to the top of the crown.
  • Religious or medical exceptionHead coverings worn daily for religious or medical reasons are permitted, provided the full face from the chin to the forehead remains visible and the covering casts no shadow on the face.

Hair & facial features

  • Hair across the faceHair must not fall across the eyes or eyebrows or obscure the outline of the face. Tuck or pin long fringes back so both eyes and the facial contours are clearly visible.

Clothing

  • Everyday clothingWear ordinary everyday clothing. Uniforms, including military and nursing uniforms, are not accepted.
  • Colour choiceAvoid white or very light tops, which blend into the required white background and weaken the outline of the head and shoulders.

Photo quality

  • True likenessThe photograph must be a true and unaltered likeness of the applicant. Beauty filters, skin smoothing, and other digital alterations of facial features are not accepted.
  • Shadows on the faceThe face must be free of harsh shadows, including shadows cast by hair, glasses frames, or any permitted head covering.
  • Red-eye and motion blurRed-eye and blur caused by the subject moving will lead to rejection. Stay still while the photograph is captured.

RECENCY

How recent the photo must be.

Your visa photo must have been taken within the last six months. A new photo is required sooner whenever your appearance has changed in a way that makes the old photo no longer recognizable.

You need a new photo if you’ve had…

  • Facial surgery or a major change to facial structure
  • A significant gain or loss of weight that visibly changes your face
  • Large facial tattoos or piercings added or removed
  • A gender transition that has changed your appearance

You do not need a new photo just because of…

  • A new hair color
  • Growing or removing a beard or moustache
  • Ordinary, minor aging
  • A new hairstyle that still leaves the face fully visible
INFANTS & CHILDREN

Photos for infants and young children.

The visa application form publishes a single rule set for all applicants. SVG missions apply the following accommodation to infants by analogy to passport practice.

Infants (under 12 months)

Babies under one year are given practical latitude on expression and gaze, and may be photographed lying down when they cannot sit unsupported.

  • Lying-down poseLay the infant on a plain white surface and photograph from directly above. The head should still face the camera squarely.
  • No visible supportsHands, arms, cushions, and straps used to steady the child must not appear anywhere in the frame.
  • Eyes and expressionEyes do not need to be fully open and a neutral expression is not required for infants under one year.
COUNTRY NOTES

Other things to know.

A few features of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines visa intake are worth flagging before printing.

London certification on reverse

Applications lodged through the SVG High Commission in London require one photograph to be certified on the reverse by a guarantor. The guarantor writes "I certify this is a true likeness of [Applicant Name]," then signs and dates the back of the print. Missing certification is a frequent cause of rejection for UK-based applicants.

Two prints for paper channels

Walk-in, mail-in, and consular submissions require two identical prints. A single image embedded in the scanned application packet is sufficient when applying by email.

No e-visa portal

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines does not operate an e-visa portal. The online route is an email submission of the scanned application to the Ministry of National Security, so no automated validator inspects the photograph before a case officer reviews it.

Ignore legacy passport sizes

Commercial sites still circulate 45 by 35 mm dimensions and 31 to 36 mm head heights drawn from older SVG passport rules. The current visa requirement is a 2 by 2 inch colour photograph, and the legacy figures should not be used.

PRINT QUALITY

Print-quality requirements for in-person submissions.

When you submit a printed photo at a visa application centre, the paper, finish, and ink all matter. The points below cover the standards most consular missions accept.

  • Print on photographic-quality paper at 300 DPI minimum.
  • Use a matte or semi-gloss finish; high-gloss can produce reflections that confuse biometric scanners.
  • Do not retouch, crop, or alter the photo after printing.
  • Bring at least two identical prints when the submission channel calls for paper photos.
