FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

How taking a compliant passport or visa photo online actually works — cost, turnaround, taking one at home, and the acceptance guarantee.

Can I take a passport photo at home with my phone?

Yes. Take a photo with any phone or camera against any plain wall — we replace the background, crop and center the image to the official size, and balance the lighting automatically. No studio and no appointment needed, and you can retake as many times as you like before you keep one.

Is a passport photo taken online actually accepted?

Yes. Every photo is measured against 300+ official compliance rules and then reviewed by a real passport-photo specialist before you submit it. If a photo is ever rejected for a reason within our control, you get a full refund.

How much does a passport photo cost?

Checking your photo is free — you run the full compliance check and see the result before paying anything. You only pay when you keep it: a digital download, or digital plus studio prints mailed to you with free shipping. The exact price is always shown before you pay.

How fast will my photo be ready?

Your compliant digital file is ready in minutes, the moment the automatic checks pass. A specialist also reviews every order by hand — usually within minutes, same day at the latest — and emails you if they make a touch-up or recommend a small change.

Do you use AI to change or edit my face?

No. We size, center, crop, and replace the background, and we balance lighting — but we never alter, beautify, or AI-generate your facial features. Keeping your real face intact matters: authorities increasingly reject digitally edited or AI-enhanced photos, and an unaltered face stays compliant.

What size is a U.S. passport photo?

A U.S. passport photo is 2 × 2 inches (51 × 51 mm), with your head 1 to 1⅜ inches (25–35 mm) from chin to crown, on a plain white or off-white background. We size and frame it to this spec automatically. Other countries use different sizes — see the per-country requirement pages.

Can I get a passport photo for a baby or infant?

Yes. Infant and child photos are one of the hardest things to get right in a store, and our processor is built for them — lay your baby on a plain sheet or use any plain background, upload the photo, and we handle the framing and background to meet your country’s rules.

What if I don’t have a plain white wall?

It doesn’t matter — our processor replaces the background with a clean, spec-compliant color automatically. Any plain-ish wall works, and even a busy room is fine because the background is set for you.

Is my photo reviewed by a real person?

Yes. After the automatic 300+ checks, a passport-photo specialist reviews your photo by hand, usually within minutes. Your files are ready to use immediately; if the expert makes a touch-up or recommends a change, we email you the updated version.

Can I get prints mailed to me, or print them myself?

Both. Choose mailed prints at checkout and we print on real photo paper and ship them free. Every order also includes a print-ready 4 × 6 inch sheet you can print at any pharmacy or photo kiosk yourself.

What happens if my photo is rejected?

If your photo is rejected by the issuing authority for a reason within our control, you get a 100% refund. Between the 300+ automatic checks and the human expert review, rejections are rare.

Do you store my photo, and is it private?

We store your order securely so you can re-download it anytime — just look it up by email on the order lookup page. Your photo is used to produce your document photo; it is not sold or shared.

Which countries and documents do you support?

We support passport, visa, green card, and national ID photos for 100+ countries and document types. Browse the full list on the documents page, or see the official photo rules for your country on the passport and visa requirement pages.
