GENERAL INFORMATION

Comoros visa photo rules from the Embassy of Comoros

The Union of the Comoros does not publish a bespoke visa photo standard. Consular processing runs through Comorian embassies abroad, with the Embassy of Comoros in Paris acting as the de facto reference for documentary requirements. Its visa instructions call for « Deux photos d’identité récentes », which under francophone consular convention means two identical prints in the ICAO-aligned 35 × 45 mm format on a plain white or light background.

There is no official e-visa portal. Sites marketing a « Comoros e-Visa » are private agencies, not government channels. Long-stay, work, and pre-approved tourist visas are filed at a Comorian embassy by walk-in or mail, and the printed photos are submitted with the paper application. Comorian missions in the Americas additionally accept the 51 × 51 mm (2 × 2 in) square format as an equivalent.

Most short-stay tourists never need to prepare a photo at all, since the Visa on Arrival counter at Prince Said Ibrahim International Airport captures the applicant’s image on site. For everyone else, photos that fail the consular review are returned with the file, which delays the visa and forces a second trip to the embassy.

You need a new photo if you’ve had…

  • Facial surgery or a major change to facial structure
  • A significant gain or loss of weight that visibly changes your face
  • Large facial tattoos or piercings added or removed
  • A gender transition that has changed your appearance

You do not need a new photo just because of…

  • A new hair color
  • Growing or removing a beard or moustache
  • Ordinary, minor aging
  • A new hairstyle that still leaves the face fully visible
COUNTRY NOTES

Other things to know.

A few features of the Comorian visa process are unusual and worth flagging before you prepare any photos.

Visa on Arrival, no photo needed

The vast majority of tourists obtain their visa on arrival at Prince Said Ibrahim International Airport (HAH), where the immigration officer captures the photo on-site. Travellers in this channel do not need to prepare or bring a printed photo.

No official e-visa portal

Comoros does not operate a government e-visa system. Websites advertising a ’Comoros e-Visa’ are private agencies, not official channels. Photos are only required for pre-arranged consular applications filed at a Comorian embassy.

Two identical prints required

Consular applications at the Embassy of the Comoros in Paris require ’deux photos d’identité récentes’, meaning two identical recent prints submitted with the paper file.

US/Americas size variant

Comorian diplomatic missions in the Americas accept the US passport-photo square format (51 x 51 mm / 2 x 2 in) as an equivalent to the 35 x 45 mm European standard. Use the variant that matches the mission handling your file.

PRINT QUALITY

Print-quality requirements for in-person submissions.

When you submit a printed photo at a visa application centre, the paper, finish, and ink all matter. The points below cover the standards most consular missions accept.

  • Print on photographic-quality paper at 300 DPI minimum.
  • Use a matte or semi-gloss finish; high-gloss can produce reflections that confuse biometric scanners.
  • Do not retouch, crop, or alter the photo after printing.
  • Bring at least two identical prints when the submission channel calls for paper photos.
